Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Won't Spend Christmas Morning Together

Christmas is right around the corner, which means the British Royal Family is preparing to spend their holiday at Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. The Royals will have to abide by many traditions over the course of their Sandringham stay, including one that will keep Prince Harry and Meghan Markle apart on Christmas morning

According to the Queen's former chef Darren McGrady, "on Christmas Day, the ladies generally opt for a light breakfast of sliced fruit, half a grapefruit, toast and coffee delivered to their rooms – the Queen’s tray is delivered at exactly 9 am." While the ladies eat their sliced fruit in their bedrooms, "the male Royals, meanwhile, come downstairs to the dining room for a hearty breakfast at 8.30am with eggs, bacon and mushrooms, kippers and grilled kidneys."

A former royal butler, Grant Harrold, said this tradition isn't uncommon "In a lot of aristocratic homes," and that the breakfast split "does still happen that the men will have breakfast downstairs while the women have breakfast in their bedroom."

So not only will Harry and Meghan most likely spend Christmas morning apart, Prince William and Kate Middleton will, as well. Another interesting tidbit is that this royal rule only applies to married women. Single royal women are expected to attend breakfast downstairs to appear more "sociable." The more you know!

The Royal Fab Four will all be attending Christmas at Sandringham in a show of solidarity following weeks of rumors about behind the scenes tension between them. Before rumors started swirling of a feud between Kate and Meghan, there was speculation William and Kate would actually spend the holidays with the Middleton family. Christopher Wilson, the biographer of Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla, explained that "Kate's a homebody and loves being with her own immediate family at Christmas - off-duty and relaxed."

"Sandringham Christmases can be an ordeal, even for those born royal - and generally, those who've married into the family often can't wait to get away," he continued. "As with many seasonal family gatherings, there can be undercurrents and the publicity over the Meghan clash won't make things any easier between the girls."

Hopefully, the Royals enjoy their holiday despite all the rumors and unusual traditions!
