Kelly Clarkson and Teddy Swims covered a throwback heartache ballad by Grammy-winning trio Lady A. The stunning rendition caught the country groupās attention when the clip was shared on social media on Wednesday (September 3).
āTwo of our favorite voices ā¤ļø This is amazing!ā Lady A commented on the performance of āNeed You Now.ā Hillary Scott ā part of the trio, alongside bandmates Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood ā shared the clip on her Instagram story and wrote: āARE. YOU. KIDDING. ME?!?!?!?ā
Lady A released the single in 2009. āNeed You Nowā served as the title track of the trioās second studio record that released in 2010. The song remains one of the most iconic hits of Lady Aās career, along with āDowntown,ā āAmerican Honey,ā āI Run To You,ā āJust A Kiss,ā āChampagne Night,ā āWhat If I Never Get Over You,ā āBartenderā and many more.
āHeartbreak never sounded so good,ā NBCās caption reads on Instagram. The performance took place on Songs & Stories, a new interview and music special that spotlights Clarksonās conversations with influential artists. Swims has shared stories about his life and music on Songs & Stories in an episode that aired on Tuesday (September 2), along with Jonas Brothers (aired August 19), Gloria Estefan (aired August 26), and Lizzo (airing September 9).
