San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings reportedly wants a new contract or trade, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday (July 14).

Jennings, 28, who signed a two-year, $15.39 million extension contract in 2024, is set to make $7.5 million during the 2025 season.

"49ers WR Jauan Jennings, who is scheduled to make $7.5 million this season in the final year of his deal, wants a new contract or a trade, per sources. 49ers extended Jennings’ deal last year, but that does not change how Jennings feels about this year," Schefter wrote on his X account.

Jennings reportedly approached the Niners about his request, however, little progress has been made, according to the source. The veteran wide receiver plans to request a trade to a team willing to pay him if a new deal isn't reached before the beginning of training camp, however, isn't expected to be a holdout.

Jennings will count $4.258 million against the Niners' cap in the final year of his deal. The situation mirrors the same as last offseason with fellow wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk before reaching a four-year, $120 million extension last August. Aiyuk, who suffered a torn ACL last season, is set to make $25 million in 2025.

San Francisco previously agreed to extensions with quarterback Brock Purdy, tight end George Kittle and linebacker Fred Warner this offseason. Jennings is coming off the best statistical season of his NFL career, recording career highs in receptions (77), yards (975) and touchdowns (6) in 2024.
