Carly Pearce relived her biggest tour fail when she caught up with Kaitlyn Bristowe on the latest episode of Off The Vine. It was a viral moment that led to the Grammy-winning country star gaining more than 100,000 followers.
“It was an unfortunate day for me,” Pearce said as she remembered her performance at a fair in Iowa. She powered through the set despite feeling under the weather that day. Pearce said she had “tons of extensions in, fake eyelashes, makeup,” and medication when she took the stage after some rain cleared up. “I feel like sh*t,” Pearce remembered. And I’m on, like, my third song, so we’re in the very beginning of a 90-minute show.
“I’m singing ‘Next Girl,’ and I walk down the catwalk, so I’m really close to these people,” Pearce said as she remembered falling on stage and quickly getting back up. “I think I did cry a little bit. I was like, ‘oh, I’m so embarrassed. I wanna run off stage. I hate this.’ And I just kept going, and then afterwards, we put out a little Instagram video and we were like, ‘if you have a video, if you were there tonight…send the video.’ And we got that angle, and my assistant, Sydney, she’s like, ‘you need to let me do this. You need to let me make this video.’ ...I gained over 100,000 followers over that video,” Pearce said, noting that even Gwen Stefani said it was “amazing.”
“I wanted to cry,” Pearce admitted. “It was so embarrassing, and I was so close to people at that point.”
Pearce said at the time, in July 2023, that “there’s a first time for everything and I sure busted my booty tonight in Iowa.” Many fans asked whether the singer-songwriter is OK, and some shared clips they recorded of that moment in her show. Pearce said when she shared a video of the onstage tumble: “First fall on stage, better make it count 😂🙈🤦🏼♀️”
Throughout her conversation with Bristowe, Pearce also spoke about her journey from working at Dolly Parton’s Dollywood as a teenager to headlining her own world tour (and the full circle moment when Parton invited Pearce to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry), Bristowe’s response to “the boy who bamboozled” Pearce, the hummingbird star’s most embarrassing moment, and more.
