'Holidate' Viewers Are Convinced Ryan Gosling Makes Small Cameo

It may feel like Christmas is still a ways off, but it will be here before you know it—especially when Netflix is already dropping their new holiday movies.

On Friday (October 30), Netflix premiered Holidate starring Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey. The holiday rom-com is the first new Christmas movie to hit the streaming service this year. Since a ton of Americans have started streaming holiday movies early this year, it's no surprise that subscribers were eager to hit play when Holidate became available.

For those who haven't hear of Holidate yet, here's the official synopsis for the holiday rom-com:

Sloane (Roberts) and Jackson (Bracey) hate the holidays. They constantly find themselves single, sitting at the kids table, or stuck with awkward dates. But when these two strangers meet during one particularly bad Christmas, they make a pact to be each other’s “holidate” for every festive occasion throughout the next year. With a mutual disdain for the holidays, and assuring themselves that they have no romantic interest in the other, they become each other's perfect plus-one which leads to some hilarious and provocative hijinks. However, as a year of absurd celebrations come to an end, Sloane and Jackson find that sharing everything they hate may just prove to be something they unexpectedly love.

There's one scene in particular that has Holidate fans talking. Throughout the movie, Sloane and Jackson reference Ryan Gosling. Towards the end of the movie, the Crazy, Stupid, Love actor is brought up once again during a scene taking place in the frozen food aisle of a grocery store. In the scene, Jackson says to Sloane: "I bet you money that if Ryan Gosling waltzed down this frozen food aisle and offered to take you on the ride of your life, you would still say no – 'cause you'd be too afraid to get on that train: the Ryan Gosling train."

When Jackson walks away from Sloane, she shouts after him: "You are so wrong. Ryan Gosling would never do his own shopping; he's way too cool for that." Just as Roberts delivers her line, an extra steps into shot behind her and opens the freezer door. While this may just be an extra who resembles Gosling, some think this is actually him making a cheeky cameo.

None of the films' stars—Gosling included—have responded to the speculation. Do you think it's really Gosling in the background?
