Chris Stapleton Hints At New Music 'Probably' Coming This Year

New music is on the way from Chris Stapleton. The singer recently revealed that he's been writing with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers band member, Mike Campbell.

"He's probably my favorite guitar player of all time. To sit around with him and write some songs has been cool," Stapleton told Rolling Stone. "We did some last year too."

Stapleton notes that he's been recording in Nashville at RCA Studio A with producer, Dave Cobb. "I don't want to make any promises, but there is probably some new music on the way," he adds.

In 2017, Stapleton met Campbell when he opened up for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at a show in Chicago at Wrigley Field. This summer, Stapleton will return to Wrigley Field for another show a part of his 2020 "All-American Road Show Tour." Campbell and his band, Dirty Knobs will join Stapleton at the show on August 29.

The new stretch of tour dates will kick off on March 11 in Corpus Christi, Texas with shows running through late October. He'll make stops in cities including Atlanta, Orlando, Columbus, Bakersfield, and more. A full list of cities and dates can be seen here.

In addition to Campbell and the Dirty Knobs, other opening acts for the tour will include Dwight Yoakam, Elle King, Hank Williams Jr., Kendell Marvel, Margo Price, Nikki Lane, Sheryl Crow, The Marcus King Band, Yola, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, and the Highwomen.
