How Meeting Route 91 Survivors Opened Jason Aldean's Eyes

Jason Aldean left a Las Vegas hospital a little more inspired than he came.

The ACM Entertainer of the Year dropped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday (April 16) and recalled going back to Vegas to see the survivors of the Route 91 Harvest festival shooting in the hospital.

While Jason explains the visit was “one of the hardest things [he’s] probably ever had to do,” it also made a huge impact on him.

“It was tough to go back and see people in the hospital, some of them in comas and things like that,” Jason says. “Seeing them and the strength they had, just happy to be alive and make it through that, allowed me to look at it in a different light, too. If these people can make it back and have that sort of attitude, I got nothing to be whining about.”

Jason told press backstage at the ACM Awards Sunday that he will "forever be linked to Vegas,” adding that “for the one horrible night [he] had [in the city], [he’s] had a million great ones and [the ACMs were] a million and one.”
